Communication between Flamenco Dancers and Musicians
Have you ever wondered how the communication between flamenco dancers and musicians works on stage, allowing for an almost magical performance without prior rehearsal? Perhaps there's a "secret code" or a special language that creates this seamless connection?
We will discover together that this fascinating language is not only real but also not a secret or a mystery. Anyone willing to invest time and energy into this exploration can learn it. The door is open to everyone, whether with or without previous experience in flamenco. Together, we will explore and master this special language, this code.
How will we proceed?
We will dive deeply into the history of flamenco, with a special focus on the Soleá. How did this fascinating palo emerge? Were there precursors? And why is it important to understand this? We will get to know the most significant artists who have shaped the styles of Soleá and immerse ourselves in the styles themselves.
Terminology
Together, we will learn the specific terminology of flamenco, the building blocks or letters that make up this unique language. We will form words from letters, assemble them into sentences, and finally, the complete text will emerge: the dance.
What do we want to achieve?
By completing this course, you will not only understand the structure of the Soleá but also be able to skillfully use individual elements such as Marcajes, Remates, and Llamadas to create your own dance.
These acquired skills will give you the freedom to develop unique choreographies of which you can be proud. Achieving this goal will not only enrich your dance skills but also elevate your artistic freedom in the world of flamenco to a new level. Be part of this fascinating journey!
URSULA MORENO
Úrsula Moreno, one of Málaga's most emblematic and internationally renowned artists, began her career after completing her studies in dance and drama at the Royal Conservatory of Music and Dance in Málaga, refining her skills with prominent teachers in Madrid and Seville. Her career has taken her to all five continents, conquering countries such as Mexico, China, Thailand, the United States, Oman, Russia, Australia, Morocco, India, Singapore, and across Europe.
As a soloist and choreographer for the "Flamenco Company Antonio Andrade," she has created successful productions such as "Noches de Amor," "Kathak Flamenco," "Vaya con Dios," "Lluvia de Tierra" (premiered at the 5th Flamenco Biennial of Málaga), and "Tagoreando." Additionally, she starred in shows like "Mi Carmen Flamenca," "Torera," and "Flamenco Suite." Under the direction of Cristina Hoyos and John Axelrod, she played the role of Carmen in the project "Tribute to Carmen" with the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville. Her latest work, "Flamenco meets Tango," was commissioned by the Royal Opera House of Muscat in Oman. As a film actress, she appeared in Rafael Robles "Rafatal's" movies "Life Above" and "The Key."
As a teacher and coordinator of the "International Courses of La Puebla de Cazalla" (Seville), of the "Cultural & Flamenco Center Úrsula Moreno," and as a guest lecturer at dance schools worldwide, she shares her knowledge, motivation, and philosophy from her long career with flamenco art lovers.
She is the co-founder of the Flamenco Theaters of Madrid and Seville, created alongside Javier and Antonio Andrade. She now assumes the artistic direction of the Flamenco Theater Málaga, thus fulfilling her greatest professional dream.
ANTONIO ANDRADE
Antonio Andrade Andrade was born in La Puebla de Cazalla, near Seville. He grew up immersed in the culture of his ancestors, flamenco, influenced by his uncle José Menese, a living legend of flamenco, who has always been a role model for him.
Together with his brother Javier Andrade, who is also his manager and producer, he founded the Compañía Flamenca Antonio Andrade, leaving his mark on the world of flamenco with innovative productions such as "Mi Andalucía", "Viva Sevilla", "Flamenco es mi vida", "Noches de Amor", "Vaya con Dios", "Bailando al Cante", "Lluvia de Tierra", "Flamenco Suite", "Mi Carmen Flamenca", "Torera" and "Flamenco meets Tango".
He completed countless tours on all five continents, from Europe (including the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Prinzregententheater München, the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus Wien, the Teatro Ariston San Remo), through the United States (Joyce Theatre New York, Fox Theatre Atlanta, Lensic Theatre Santa Fe) to Japan (Tokyo International Forum, Granship Daichi Shizuoka), China (Oriental Art Center Shanghai and Mei Lang Fan Grand Opera Beijing), Russia, as well as many other countries such as Panama, Turkey, Morocco, Syria, Canada, Oman, and Australia. Additionally, he participated in productions such as "Magneten" under the direction of André Heller, and collaborated with prestigious ensembles such as the Music Ensemble of Benares (India) or the Maria Benitez Teatro Flamenco (USA). Under the direction of Cristina Hoyos and conductor John Axelrod, he carried out the impressive premiere of "Homenaje a Carmen" with the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla in the Reales Alcázares of Seville.
He is a co-founder of the world's first flamenco theaters, the Teatro Flamenco Madrid, the Teatro Flamenco Sevilla, and the Teatro Flamenco Málaga.
